June 28 – Luke 24

Blessed are we!!!!!!

Is it not just like Jesus to bless us as. He. is. ascending?! I mean, come on!!!!!

This is how He cares for us: Even while ascending into the heavens to be with His Father, He blesses us. In this way, He reminds us that though He is apart from us physically, He does not forget us. While we are separated, His blessings do not cease to exist and cover us.

The fact that He does not forget us, that He keeps seeing us, that He is with us in Spirit is astounding! He did not leave it all behind and forget it. Out of sight, out of mind? A resounding absolutely not. He remains mindful and intentional. As we close our time together, let’s remember that the God who blesses us does not forget us and that Jesus, who blessed us even as He left this earth, still sees us. Who are we that He is mindful of us?!

Oh! I just cannot put into words just how exuberant I am right now. I have no words, but the goosebumps on my skin say it all! Oh, I just want to share this knowledge and understanding with the world!

Blessed are you who, when Jesus returned to His heavenly home, remembered you and blessed you. May the grace of Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

My Verse: “And He led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up His hands He blessed them. While He blessed them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven.” Luke 24:50-51

My Response: God of mercy, You alone are almighty. Your Son, whom You gave to us, died and rose for our sake. And I can do nothing but accept that truth and fall at Your feet in worship. God of wonder, beyond all things. You have my heart. You have my life. I am Yours.

It’s hard to believe this is our last day together! PLEASE let us know if you enjoyed the study and followed along silently or “out loud” – it helps us in planning the next one. Which, by the way, will begin in September. It will be one that I wrote, and we will be studying the book of Hebrews together. I’m happy that it’ll only be a couple of months before we’re studying together again and boy oh boy – I learned a lot as I prepared our Hebrews study. But anyway … let us know what you learned or simply that you did this study. Thanks.

My verse: Luke 24:50 “Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them.”

My response: That last blessing, literally the last thing Jesus did on earth, was so powerful and beautiful that – even though Jesus was gone – his followers worshiped and were “filled with great joy”. I can’t imagine the mix of joy and wonder and astonishment and sense of purpose they all had at that moment!

And Lord, we who know You now are also blessed ones. Our sins are forgiven, our hearts are Your home, our purpose is clear. Bless us, please, with renewed joy and desire to share Who You are with all who will listen! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
