We are soooooo blessed!!!!!!! I love it when I encounter a Jesus follower who recounts to me
their blessings or how God has blessed their life. It reminds me to count my blessings; they are
goalposts for me to keep my focus on He who blesses me. Recounting daily blessings and
offering them back to God in thankfulness is a must for one who is God’s child. But what does
God’s word say about blessings? What ARE the actual blessings He has spoken over us?
In the coming weeks, we will look at different blessings from God. We will learn or relearn how
His blessings guide us to live lives within His will and help us build our faith in the face of the
yuck we encounter today.
So, what is a blessing? Simply, it is God’s favor and protection over His family. These blessings
are God’s way of showing His great desire for us to be restored back to Him. They are the hope
that this promised restoration can and will occur. Time and time again, as I sit down to write
these studies, I am reminded of the huge amount of hope we have! God has left us with more
than enough hope in what is to come; there is no shortage of it. And so I changed the title from
“So Blessed” to “Abundantly Blessed.”
I pray that as we move through this study and we silently sing, ‘count your blessings, name them
one by one’ (!), you will also name these blessings along with the daily routine ones.
May the grace of Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all,
