December 4 – Romans 8:18-30

Jesus, our Savior King, we praise You for You are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace!!!! We thank You for You secure our peace! We fall before You in worship and adoration. Draw near to us, Lord of all.

From the beginning of this sin filled world we have been yearning for hope. We have been waiting for Hope, for the One who would bring rescue, salvation, and restoration. All of creation has been groaning for this. We, His children are holding onto the hope of Him which we cannot
yet see, yet we know, and our souls waiteth.

The lack of this kind of hope is unbelief; there is no other way to express that. As a Jesus follower, we are called to hope in Hope Himself, thus there is no room for unbelief. Hope has come, and He will return for us again! Do not despair! We are not without Him for long, for He is coming!

If we are to keep a tight grip on this hope, then we cannot become complacent. We must keep our eyes and focus on Him at all times. God has blessed us with His word, so read it, study it, and in turn, it will help us to fight off those who try to squash that hope. Since sin entered the world, our whole existence has been spent watching for His return. And one day… we will no longer need to look ahead because that will be a thing of the past!

So rejoice! Rejoice in the glory of God and live life in complete peace! Rejoice! Rejoice! For
Christ will return! He has not forsaken us.

“Good Christian men, rejoice
With heart and soul, and voice;
Give ye heed to what we say:
News! News! Jesus Christ is born today;”
Heinrich Suso (1295–1366)

My Verse: “For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” Romans 8:24-25

My Response: Oh, long awaited Savior!!! I praise You! I rejoice in You! You are my joy, my comfort, and my hope!

    Sharon’s morning thoughts: This particular reading resonated with me so personally, today. I am really diving deep into what it means to HOPE. Very thankful we are spending the whole week on this wonderful word.

    My verse: Romans 8:23b ” … for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.”

    My response: Today, Lord, as I wrestled with an uncooperative hearing aid, I felt this verse in my own flesh and my own grief over faulty hearing. I do long for the day when I’ll hear music fully and harmoniously once again. Thank You for giving me hope. Someday, You’ll clothe my soul in a new body with ears that work and I’ll be singing through my tears of joy around Your glorious throne. Thank You for the assurance of these things to come. In You I hope.
