So. A little background story. Last night at 9:30pm one of our smoke detectors started beeping. Changed batteries. Still beeping. Disconnected from wires. Still beeping. Disconnected Every Single Smoke Detector. Still beeping. Had the fire department over and proceeded to tell them what a hard week it has been and how Ray needs his sleep for graduation ceremonies happening today. Way more information than they needed or wanted. Felt foolish. Woke up not liking myself this morning. Hadn’t even prayed during the smoke detector ordeal. And then I sit and read God’s Word, and He reminds me that even when I am petulant and pouty … He never abandons me. I don’t have to be perfect to be loved. In fact, I am still loved even when I am a hot mess. Which I was last night. So.

My verse: Hebrews 13:5b ” … For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.'”

My response: Your patient kindness with me is such a blessing. To know You are always near, even when I am a mess … is balm to my weary soul. Thank You, my good, good Father. Keep me close, please. I need You every hour of every day. I love You.
