Welcome, friend. If you are new to our 4 R method, these 4 R’s kinda tell it all!  Here’s a short explanation to go with the graphic:

Start with you and the Lord. Sit in a quiet place with Bible, pen, and journal and read the assigned portion of Scripture for the day. Here’s how we break it down:

REQUEST: Start with a short prayer, asking God to help you as you read. Pray for understanding and pray for focus. Sometimes our minds wander (!!) even when we don’t want them to do so. Praying for His help … really helps!

READ: Read through the passage assigned a couple of times, absorbing what it says as best you can. Sip tea or coffee or ice water if that helps. (wink!)

RECORD: In your journal choose just one verse to record – to write out. Writing it out helps solidify it in your brain and enables you to focus on it even more. Also, by “having” to pick a verse, the reading part is also more focused. You have a mission. What verse resonates the most – or perhaps puzzles you?

RESPOND: God speaks through His Word. How did He speak through that verse? Write a short prayer of response, telling God your thoughts or questions about the verse.

Then, head right here to the website and read Melissa’s commentary for even greater understanding of the passage. Read the comments of other students who share the verse and response they had to the passage. Add your own if you wish. We learn so much from each other.

May God bless and guide you as you study is Word this June!  Love and hugs, Sharon
