March 13 – Matthew 27:32-44
Our Jesus, we praise You, for You are Salvation. You are Hope. You are Peace! We love You and want to draw near to You. Be with us as we come together to spend time with You and worship You.
Oh, how foolish these people sound, right? So ignorant and unseeing. Even they refused to see, refused to connect the dots. Completely missing the once in a lifetime of the world event. Completely not understanding the words they were saying.
And yet, how many times is this us, too? What have we been missing? Have we been taking the cross for granted, have we slowly become numb to its magnitude? Are we living a life that shows how much we are grateful for that cross?
Read this passage again and while doing so, examine yourself. What truths are you refusing to see? What are you unwilling to give up and let go of? In what way have you mocked Him, accused Him, or torn His garments? If this heart condition is where you find yourself, I encourage you to go to Jesus and apologize, ask Him to cleanse you and set your heart right and to shoo satan far, far away from you.
And then, walk in the joy, hope, and peace that He graces you with in response.
My Verse: Matthew 27:44, “And the robbers who were crucified with Him also reviled Him in the same way.”
My Response: Lord Jesus, if ever I treat You as these people did You… Oh my heart. Let my actions, thoughts, and words be always respectful of You, always praising You, and always honoring You for the Christ that You are!

My verse: Matthew 27:42 “He saved others’, they scoffed, ‘but he can’t save himself! So he is King of Israel, is he? Let him come down from the cross right now, and we will believe in him!”
My response: Oh, the irony. If You had come down from that cross … which You fully could have … then “believing” in You would not save them because You would not have been Who You Are – Lamb of God – perfect sacrifice offered so we could live, dying in our place. Those words were so horrid. Were they trying to justify what they had done – urge for an innocent and kind rabbi to be murdered? I honor You, Lord and Savior. You chose to die so they could live – yes, even those who mocked You.
