June 15 – Isaiah 30:18-33
Blessed are you, who are like a beacon on a hill. Blessed are you who trust and long for the Lord, adhere to God, and stick to Him. Blessed are you.
In the first part of the chapter, we learn that Judah did as they wanted without seeking the will of God. Remember, in Deuteronomy 17:16, God warned them not to return to Egypt. Yet, instead, they sought reliance on the Egyptian vice, relying on God.
The Lord waits, regardless of whether it is due to our own lack of staying in step with him or letting His plan unfold; it is always about His will. He wants to be gracious to us, but it has to be at His right time. And our obligation to that? Wait on God ourselves to have faith and patience.
When we rely on anyone other than God, putting our trust in the very one He tells us explicitly not to, why would He ever bless that disobedience or lack of faith? Verse 18 is an incredible promise to those whose faith and trust are firmly in God. It does not mean life will be easy and free of trials, though it will be one day. It does, however, promise that blessings and joys will be in abundance and that those God followers of verse 17 will have comfort in their hearts and His face will be upon them.
My Verse: “Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore He exalts Himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.” Isaiah 30:18
My Response: God, I praise You, for You are gracious abundantly. You do not ever fail to show me Your mercies, and I lift my thanks to You.
