Advent 2025

God’s Message of Salvation

Request: Lord, open my eyes as I read your word, my ears to hear, my mind to understand, and my heart to be filled with your love. Amen.

Read Isaiah 25:6-9

Respond with a prayer to God

People have been given hope of eternal life since Isaiah spoke these words, words given to him by God for “all peoples” – Gentiles and Jews. God’s message of salvation was first voiced by Isaiah and continued throughout the New Testament.

Hope… it has been given to the people of generations for many years. We can trust that God will fulfill his promise of Jesus Christ returning. He came as an infant, died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, and he will come again to swallow up death forever and we will have eternal life in Heaven. As is written in Revelation 21:4, “‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” All things will be new!

As people of faith, we have the hope of the day when we will be part of the great feast. God always fulfills his promises. He will end death forever. Death holds no threat for us who live in faith. Watch and be ready.

My verse: Isaiah 25:9, “In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

As I am writing this, we just celebrated Easter Sunday and the resurrection of our Lord. I must say that my favorite celebration of the church year is Easter, not Christmas. We have been given the hope of Jesus’ return. The comparisons between his birth and our waiting for his return are so similar. People watched and waited for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ as they heard the words of the prophets that were passed down from generation to generation. Today, we watch and wait for his return. We know that he will return and we will be able to say “This is the Lord!” What a day that will be!

My response: God, my hope is in the day of the great feast. I pray for the day when death will be swallowed up forever. Amen.
