Week 4 Enduring the Cross with the Joy Set Before Him
March 22 – Hebrews 12
Our Jesus, we praise You, for You are Salvation. You are Hope. You are Peace! We love You and want to draw near to You. Be with us as we come together to spend time with You and worship You.
This chapter starts off by reminding us that Jesus went to the cross for joy, and that act of love and His joy will carry us through God’s discipline of us and to the future that is to come. Our faith walk won’t always be easy. It won’t always be safe for dark days are coming and we must be ready.
Jesus’ death didn’t just give us salvation and crush satan. He ushered in the end times, they are here and they are progressing steadily. Our walk with God, obedience, faithfulness, witness grows more with each passing day. We cannot sit idly by waiting. We must be actionable. Actionable by being peaceful, living holy lives, rooting out bitterness, fearing God for the consuming fire that He is.
These next few days we will take bite-sized looks into this and have times of reflection. As we inch closer to Easter, may we remember with joy, awe, and reverence how grateful our God is and how loving our Jesus is.
My Verse: Hebrews 12:2, “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
My Response: Lord, Jesus. I praise You because Your very nature is love. I praise You because You are the crusher of death, the destroyer of evil, the way to salvation. You are my everything.

My verse: Hebrews 12:11 “No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening — it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained this way.”
My response: Father, help me to remember during times of difficulty – physical ailments, money trouble, difficult people — whatever You have allowed, that the way I seek You in it will determine the long term outcomes. I want that peaceful harvest of right living. Help me to remember even troubles can be used for great good. You waste nothing.
