Hope Eternal

March 19 – Galatians 6:11-18

Our Jesus, we praise You, for You are Salvation. You are Hope. You are Peace!  We love You and want to draw near to You.  Be with us as we come together to spend time with You and worship You.

Ultimately, everything we do, say, our behavior, and attitude should point to the cross.  Paul was adamant always that our outward visible doings are not what saves us. Salvation was done via the cross. God looks at our heart condition, and how our lives outwardly change in response to grace is what points others to Jesus. It can only be Jesus through the cross and grace.  If we have done anything, it is only because God willed it so that we can say, “only because of Him.”  There is nothing to boast about in ourselves, for even the Spirit is doing the work day and night, making possible for us to do what God tells us to do.  Without Jesus, we have nothing, are nothing, gain nothing. But with Jesus is everything!

Paul, ever the encourager, reminds us that when we, or as we, follow the rule of being a new creation, peace and mercy will be upon us. Doing life as He designs will bring peace; it will be blessed and full of grace. One can never go wrong if following His will. And in all we do, point it all back to Him, as is His expectation of us. As you read again verses 5:16-6:18, examine yourself to see areas where you might be doing good works for show rather than to please God.  And ask Him to shift your heart’s gaze to do things according to His will, for His pleasure and for other humans.

My Verse: Galatians 6:18, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.”

My Response: Lord, only through Your grace can I do Your will; only through Your grace do I have peace.  Only through You, Lord.  Oh Lord, how many times have I done things “in Your name” yet done really for the praise of people?  Far, far too many.  Forgive me, Lord, my selfish ways. Forgive me for boasting in myself and not in You.  Please, help me to be You focused and not me focused.  Let my first response always be with Your praise falling out of my mouth.

My verse: Galatians 6:18 “Dear brothers and sisters, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.”

My response: Oh to be like You, Lord Jesus! Your grace in my spirit – You who stopped in the midst of urgency to notice the woman who touched the hem of your garment … You who healed old Bartimaeus, shouting in unseemly fashion … You who said, let the children come to Me … You who suffered and died so I could live. May that grace and graciousness permeate my spirit so I reflect You in my every encounter with others. I need You every hour, Lord, to be like You.
