Respond with a prayer to God

Before the birth of Jesus Christ, the Jews felt they were superior to the Gentiles. They thought that because they were uncircumcised, they were unclean and could not be saved by God. Paul tells us that they were both unclean and only Christ could cleanse them so that they could understand the gift of salvation.

It was spiritual pride, faith, and traditions that made the Jews think those things elevated them above everyone else. The Gentiles felt that they were better because of their achievements, power, and status. Spiritual pride blinds us to our faults and magnifies the faults of others. Pride is a sin. Remain humble and thank God for all he has done and encourage others who are struggling with their faith.

Jesus is our peace! He came to us as an infant. He preached peace and salvation to both Jews and Gentiles. It is this peace in him that brings us all together as one in him.

When we are in harmony and live in peace with others as we serve Christ as he taught us, others will see God’s love through us.

My verse: Ephesians 2:17: “He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.”

God sent his only Son to us, he was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. What a gift! Through his teachings, we have learned peace and how to live with one another.

My Response: Lord, thank you for sending your Son to us. I pray that we will remember his teachings and share his word with others so that we can strive to live in peace with each other. Amen.

  • “You lived in this world without God and without hope. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.” Vs 12b‬-‭13‬ ‭
Thank you God that I don’t have to live as one who has no hope any longer. I have been united with Christ and You have drawn me near to You. That You WANT me in your presence always amazes me.

    • Me, too. He wants us. He went to extreme measures so we could be with Him always. What kind of amazing love is this? SO grateful.

  • You are choosing the BEST verses in this study. I loved today’s reading about Peace.

My verse: Ephesians 2:21 “We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.”

My response: Father, I love that we are “carefully joined together” or, as the NASB puts it “being fitted together”. I see all of us who are Yours, coming into the family as rough pieces of building material with jagged edges and splintery surfaces – often scraping up against others and poking them. You, as You bring peace, sanctify us. You smooth out the rough edges and carefully, seamlessly, tirelessly, work us together into one beautiful whole. Help me to cooperate, Lord, when I need some sandpapering!
